Grant Mogford, CFPS, CECS, CESI, NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist

Flue Steam, Inc.
Culver City, CA

Please describe your background in the industry, including your role within your company.

I started in the KEC industry in 1991 and have worked in all capacities within our company. I currently oversee our entire crew of kitchen exhaust cleaners and work as a liaison with our crews, customers and AHJ’s. I provide training to local AHJ’s and work closely with them to ensure fire safety compliance in facilities that we service and facilities that are in need of service.

What do you feel is IKECA’s primary benefit to its members and the industry?

Education is the primary benefit to our members. Education on many levels, not just sessions at our meetings, but effective communication between members allowing open dialogue, even between competitors, to make our industry one to be respected by those that we serve and by AHJ’s and Insurance companies.

What do you feel IKECA should be concentrating on over the next few years?

I believe that IKECA needs to focus on the insurance industry as a strategic partner to bring IKECA’s strong AHJ and KEC membership full circle and have the education opportunities made available to the one group that has the loudest voice with the food service industry.

I was elected by IKECA’s general membership to two consecutive three year terms as an IKECA Board member, and I was elected by the Board of Directors as Secretary and executive Board Member for 1 year.
I have been the Chair of the Marketing Committee for 7 (+) years. Currently I am the Co-Chair of the Marketing Committee.

What are your goals and objectives if elected to the IKECA Board of Directors?

My ideas for increasing the AHJ membership were hugely successful and have seen the AHJ membership grow to larger than our KEC membership. I, if elected, would like to lead the board to start an initiative to offer our Insurance Company membership similar incentives to drive an increase in that membership category. This will ultimately benefit all member companies with increased exposure to the insurance industry.
